Elisabeth Toye is current principal conductor |
Elisabeth is a graduate of Birmingham University and the Royal Academy of Music. She has built a busy and successful career as a vocal coach, choral trainer and professional performer. Her conducting began in 2001 in Birmingham as musical director of the University Chamber Choir. Subsequently, she has run choirs for a number of distinguished schools and also founded her own adult female ensemble in London. She has for some years been working with Berkshire Maestros (The Young Musician’s Trust) and is currently assistant director of the Berkshire Youth Choir. In addition, Elisabeth has tutored for the National Youth Choir of Wales and, in 2008, worked alongside the Director of The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Her experience as singing teacher and freelance vocal coach brings particular expertise to Cantorum, both for building a challenging repertoire and promoting enjoyment in performance. |

Jill joined Cantorum for the Christmas concert of 2003 and took on the role of Choir Secretary in 2004. She works locally in IT, and brings invaluable skills as well as great warmth and dedication to the choir. Her two fondest Cantorum memories are of being met with roses and song at the Gare du Nord, on our 2004 exchange with Ensemble Vocal de Neuilly, and singing the motets for the 2006 Palm Sunday Mass in St Mark’s, Venice. |

Bridget Bentley has been in Cantorum since its formation (she was very young at the time!). The choir consisted of 12 members for its first Christmas carol concert 25 years ago. Bridget teaches music locally, as does her daughter, Julia, who now also sings with Cantorum, having first performed in Cantorum's children's choir, Cantorum Too, at the age of eight. |
